It’s easier to understand if you’re an English major with a focus on literature and writing.
The establishment and place of fantasy fiction, and genre fiction in general within the English literature canon through an understanding of what constitutes literary canon, and the permeability of the borders between genre and literary fiction.
My creative piece is meant to serve as an example of a piece that embodies aspects of both genre and literary fictions such that it has the capacity to be considered a member of either aspect of literature.
Thank you, but I still have to finish my thesis before I can graduate. Granted, I’ve already knocked out 35 pages out of 40, but still.
(Never mind that 30 pages are excerpts of an original piece around 500 pages written for a creative thesis)
I’m still debating the ceremony thing, and I’ll probably consult my family about it, whether they like the idea or not.
But I’ve spent my entire college career going through the motions and avoiding the typical social aspects of college. I don’t like parties (they tend to leave me either really depressed or anxious), I’m not fond of many of my classmates, and the only reason I can see to actually attend the ceremony would be to please my family.
I love my extended family, but I don’t think that’s enough of a reason to go through with it. My high school graduation nearly left me in tears, and not because I was sad to go, and the party that followed was one of the most awkward moments of my life.
If my immediate family doesn’t like the idea, then I don’t really care. After all the crap of late with my parents passive-aggressively telling me that it’s time I get out of their house (after graduation I won’t be considered a dependent, and therefore not tax deductible) and that I don’t know what I’m doing with my own time or money, they have no reason to criticize me saving the time that a day long ceremony would take, as well as the $45 to rent the cap and gown.
So, I just found out that I can get my diploma without actually renting the cap or gown, or going to the ceremony. This plan intrigues me.
Thank you Fetch, and everyone else who’s wished me a happy birthday. Due to family issues, work, and a few other issues, it was far from a good day, but the well wishes are still very, very much appreciated.
It’s my birthday today, and every mention of it the past couple days has effectively been a passive aggressive way of saying “Get the fuck out of the house already you mooch”, or “isn’t it about time you had a social life?”
I love my family sometimes.
Don’t plan on making a story with enough twists turns and surprises to be interesting. Let the story grow as you create it, and create it in such a way that YOU would find it interesting.
Do that and others will see the same.

So, I finally caved and saw the Lego Movie with unhinged-mod. I can see how some people would enjoy it, but I really, really didn’t like it.
Birthday in a week (26th) and a meetup with unhinged-mod tomorrow. Sweet.
Discluding any Chrysalis blogs I can think of 4 off the top of my head, namely Papi, changeling Twi, Coccinelle, and Queen Alora. Those are just the blogs that focus on a non Chrysalis Queen that spring to mind, I know there are many others.
13. What talents do you have?
I’d say that I’m a fairly decent writer with one novel published, another written, and a Bachelors in English Literature. I’m also apparently a somewhat competent artist though that one is questionable. I sing as well, though not as much as I used to.
21. Have you ever been to the hospital?
Not since I was a babe. I was born jaundiced and deformed with spina bifida, so I spent the first few months of my life in and out of the hospital.
22. Have you ever gotten into trouble with the law?
I’ve had a speeding ticket for doing 45 in a 35 mph zone (I was only doing 38, but police aren’t required to use radar guns or the like, and can make such calls based off of judgement in many places.) That’s about it.
I like you, anon, but platonicaly. I’m not one to call out love early on, but I’m afraid that I’m holding out for vaeyla, so I’m afraid that it wouldn’t work out between us anyway.
I adore children, and I would love to have and raise children of my own one day. All in due time though.

I would be honored, though I’m not sure how I’d do. I have trouble talking in public, but for something that I’m passionate about, something that I know in and out, or something where I’m just being questioned about something I know, I think I could manage that.
I have never been to a convention, but I would love to attend. If it were to get to the point where I am invited, let alone paid, to do so then all the better.
I was invited to BABScon to speak about changelings, so I’ve been running a crowdfunding campaign and… well, we’re in the final week. If, you know, you want to donate anything, or at least spread the word…

I don’t know really, I can never really remember my dreams.

I like whatever’s on at the moment, more or less. I abhor rap, but I’m alright with most other forms of music. Except Bieber. Not because of his music, which is almost tolerable, but because he is a horrible excuse for a human being.

I don’t think so, but that might just be my ego talking.

Fairly often actually, it helps me to work through things that end up on my mind, or to work out a scene that I’m working on. Now and then if I’m alone at work I will go on an hour long rant if something is bugging me or has made me upset, like Dead Space 3 or Ben Marcus's The Flame Alphabet.
