pro tip if you haven't got a good water type, get a wishiwashi.
Again, I beat Sun the Sunday after it came out, and started with Popplio. I had an amazing Water type from the get go. Wishiwashi is cool, but it’s really gimmicky and painfully slow. Couple that with really low HP and it falls prey to a lot of stuff.
I like it in concept, and in execution. I do wish that you could play minigames to help your Pokemon grow berries, or dig for treasure, or what have you, but for what’s there and what it can do I’m very happy with it.
The only complaint that I have with Sun and Moon is that the PSS was taken out and quick link was left in. I don’t mind the Festival Plaza for what it is, but I wish it wasn’t the only way of interacting with people and accepting trades and battles.
The common complaints about the lack of Super Training, DexNav, changes to fishing, etc. I can understand but at the same time I understand why they were taken out or changed. The games are already struggling to fit on the 3DS with all that is in them. I have no doubt that they’ll return or be reintroduced either in the alleged Pokemon Stars that’s rumored for a fall release on the Switch next year, or the Sinnoh remakes that are almost guaranteed by the end of 2018.
Hmmmm, metamorphosed Fickle with a more matured Em, Abi and Libi having grown from the outpouring of love and seeing Papi’s new form, or some other metamorphosed/metamorphosing drones?
How about a strawpoll because that’s how I always do this?
didn’t hillary drive a fuck ton of people in to try and rig the election in her favor?
Seeing as Hillary is now working with the Green Party on a recount of votes, a recount not headed by the DNC and already well underway and funded before the DNC said they’d get involved, I somewhat doubt that she drove people in to the country to vote for her.
There’s also that whole “IF YOU’RE NOT REGISTERED YOU CANNOT VOTE” thing that kind of discredits that. Yes some places allow you to register immediately prior to voting, but those places still require proof of citizenship.
Then there’s also the audits of votes in Wisconsin that show voter turnout over 100% in several counties overwhelmingly for Trump, during a record low voter turnout year.
If you’ve got a legitimate, verifiable source of Hillary importing people to illegally vote for her, and a reason why such a thing would not be directly countered by the same candidate supporting a recount of the votes, while the candidate who “won” is trying to avoid the recount, I’d love to hear about it.
So blatant voter fraud is found in favor of Trump in several counties in Wisconsin and other states, around the same time that Putin says that Russia’s borders do not end when told they end at the Bering Strait……That’s not suspect at all.
I actually really don’t like the Stunky line. Don’t like them aesthetically, don’t like them competitively. Just because they’re skunks doesn’t mean they’re a good fit for Bev.
I second that. I wasn’t trying to knock any of the games, just making a point that Pokemon is selling ridiculously well while other more mainstream, serious games are faltering a lot this year.
Still the same shit over and over again with about as many meaningful changes as a cawadooty game nintendrones always complain about being the same thing over and over again
This is pretty much exactly what I was talking about in the last response.
I’m a huge gamer and I’ve never met anyone who said Pokémon is for kids. For 90’s kids maybe? It’s always been cool to like Pokémon. Especially with GO this summer giving all us 90’s kids memberries. And kids today being introduced to it by their parents. But I think you’re kinda overdramatizing stuff. I own both BF1 and Titanfall 2. Their problems is EA launched 2 amazing shooters 1 week apart. Then COD the week after. They cannibalized each other. And watchdogs 1 sucked ass. So won’t play 2.
You must not listen to the same people that I do when it comes to games media. I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve heard the “Pokemon’s for babies” argument not only from friends and family, but personalities and companies like Rooster Teeth or YoVideogames. A lot of the people who argue that Pokemon’s just for kids tend to also be Genwunners in my experience, or never touched it to begin with. If you just listen to people who love Pokemon a lot then you’ll never come across people who think it’s stupid. You look around though and you’ll find people dumbfounded every time Pokemon does well, or when their own franchises end up faltering for one reason or another.
hey, pro tip if you haven't gotten that far yet, before you leave the second island get a ground type pokemon. there's diglets so hey.
I finished the story of Sun Sunday night and started a Nuzlocke of Moon yesterday. If you want a good Ground type, get a Mudsbray/Mudsdale. Much better attack, defense and longevity than Dugtrio. The only thing it doesn’t really have is speed, and when you have an ability that buffs your bulk with every hit taken, that doesn’t really matter.
Starter determined by last digit of ID number (1-3 is Rowlet, 4-6 is Litten, 7-9 is Popplio, 0 is choice)
A fainted Pokemon is dead and must be released
1 capture allowed per area per encounter type (I.E a capture via fishing, surfing or shaking spot can be done on top of the traditional encounter.) Only the first encountered Pokemon with any method may be captured
Routes divided into distinct or named sections, I.E. cave interior vs exterior, qualify as different areas
Areas that do not allow capture for narrative, I.E. Trial sites, are not restricted by the first encounter rule until capture is allowed on that route.
Gift Pokemon are allowed if they are not overleveled for the trainer (Event Munchlax is allowed, Ash Greninja is not)
Trading is only allowed for evolution, and must end with the Pokemon having the Nuzlocke trainers’ ID
Pokemon Refresh and PokePelago are allowed. Pokemon Refresh use is encouraged to better bond with Pokemon.
Pokemon who join the box through Pokepelago may be used in the case of a dead Pokemon but cannot be used unless a Pokemon dies.
Exp Share is disallowed and Exp Share must be turned off upon reception.
Pokemon switching is to be locked to Set, trainers will switch out before you can.
If the first Pokemon encountered calls for help, any summoned Pokemon may be captured within the same encounter, even if the initial Pokemon is defeated. A capture will end the encounter and no other capture may be made with the same encounter method in that area.
All captured Pokemon must be named whether they are used or not.
If the first Pokemon encountered in an area is the same species, or part of the same family as an already captured Pokemon (appears on the same Pokedex page), then it may be knocked out without negating the capture for that route.
Shiny Pokemon encountered do not count for the capture restrictions
In the event of a team wipe, the Nuzlocke is over and must be abandoned or restarted from scratch.
Breeding is allowed with captured Pokemon, additional captures are not allowed for breeding purposes, trainer must work with what they have.
Legendaries (Title legends, Tapu and UBs) may be captured without route restriction, but cannot be soft reset.
Nuzlocke will continue until trainer has reached the Battle Tree and defeated either Red or Blue. After defeating a classic champion of choice, capture restrictions will no longer be enforced and free capture will be allowed.
Defeated party members may only be boxed rather than released if they are capture restricted (Starter, version exclusives, fossils, etc.) These Pokemon may be placed in a grave box and traded away to another game, Pokemon received in trade for Pokemon in the grave box must be released
New clothes do not need to be purchased, but a new outfit is highly encouraged..
All revives given or found must be sold and cannot be used to revive fallen allies.
Player is allowed 3 save wipes/soft resets. If data is lost from the system losing power, or from being turned off without saving more than 3 times the Nuzlocke is forfeited. A save wipe is the only way to revive a fallen Pokemon, but runs the risk of losing rare catches. A save wipe cannot be used in an attempt to capture a legendary if the attempt failed. Save often, use them wisely.
Feel free to use these rules or adjust them for your own Nuzlocke runs, and good luck.
Edit: You cannot see your trainer ID until after you have chosen your starter but the ID is set at the beginning. The trainer may save at Mahalo trail to reset if starter choice does not match the trainer ID, or the trainer may roll a D10 as available here

On vacation this week, so no work until Saturday. Finished Sun’s story, but I’ve still got a major Pokemon itch right now. Feel free to vote for what you’d most like to see today/this week. Choose three per vote
I have played every version of Pokemon since 1998. Sun and Moon are hands down the most immersive, most in depth, and most narratively beautiful in the series. Absolutely amazing. I just finished Sun, and the first thought in my mind isn’t how long or how good the postgame’s going to be, but that I REALLY want to start up Moon now just to relive the game from a different perspective.
If you don’t have it already, pick up a copy as soon as you can. If you do have a version already, I hope you love it as much as I do.
I love how my current team in Sun is all newly introduced Pokemon, and they’re all female. On the third island and headed towards the 5th trial and my team consists of:
Jennet the Mudsdale Nereid the Primarina Vaeyla the Tsareena Ampere the Charjabug Mischief the Midday Lycanroc Lilith the Salazzle
“It’s so ridiculous that GameFreak didn’t add any new fossil Pokemon to Sun and Moon!!!”
The games take place on a volcanic archipelago, it’s virtually impossible for new fossils to be prevalent in such a place, or any fossils for that matter.
“But the Pokedex has 4th and 5th gen fossils!!”
That are explicitly stated as having been imported from Sinnoh and Unova as trade goods and decorations. I would have loved new fossil Pokemon too, but chill.
I think my favorite little touch to Sun and Moon so far is the addition of background pieces in houses to better let Pokemon live among people. Stuff like your mom having a food and water dish for her Meowth, and some NPCs having little beds next to their own for their Pokemon.
Slow start in Sun/Moon, took 15 minutes to get the starter, but the first Popplio I chose was a Brave little patoot whom I have named Nereid. She’s precious!
I want the cat. While I’m not a fan of the others, I don’t really mind them.
Minor spoilers for 7th gen starter stats, but Litten’s not a bad choice at all. Incineroar has really respectable attack and solid defensive typing and stats. It’s a little slow, but so are the other two.
Decidueye has average physical and special attack, special defense that’s decent and physical defense that’s below average, with base 70 speed. It’s set as a mixed attacker that doesn’t hit fast, and doesn’t really hit hard on either end of the spectrum. On top of that it has more weaknesses than resistances, (though it does have 2 immunities) and relatively thin coverage.
Then there’s Primarina. It only has 3 weaknesses, to relatively underused types while resisting 6 types and being immune to a 7th. Stat wise the best comparison would probably be Gardevoir, but Primarina does what Gardevoir does better, albeit slower. It hits harder and tanks hits better than Gardevoir, and has the highest Special Attack and Special Defense stats of any starter Pokemon in the history of the franchise.
Decidueye’s not bad in the scheme of things, but I expect to see a LOT more Incineroar and Primarina than Decidueye in competitive, and in just playing through the games.
I love it when everyone goes after one starter convinced that it’s going to be the best, and treats another like crap, then they evolve and the stats come out and suddenly the Pokemon that everyone said they were choosing turns out to be arguably the worst of the starters and the one who was hated turns out to be the best.
Sun and Moon are bringing stat boosts to preexisting Pokemon, as often happens during the start of a generation. Approximately 27 preexisting Pokemon are seeing increases to their base stat total from generations 1, 2, 3, and 5.
6th gen is missing, but that’s not surprising as it just ended. But why no boosts to 4th gen Pokemon?
Not sure what to do today, draw some Midnight Oil? Setup for potential Bev fleshsculpting commissions? Random furry or TF piece/s? Work on cleaning up the videogame backlog? Etc?
Someone translate for those who can’t understand this
The current most broken, overpowered Pokemon in the game can barely take down a Pokemon technically weak to it and it would take two turns at maximum power to do so
Use fire moves you idiots - A-
wait, since when is rayquaza considered OP and broken? he was a punk ass bitch in the omega games. Also, what about a shuckle? can a shuckle one shot the bear?
You are looking at Rayquaza from a narrative perspective when it’s likely lower level than you. This is taking it at level 100 with full investment, and likely ideal IVs. Mega Rayquaza has base 180 Attack and Special Attack, in both offenses it is in the top 5 in the history of the franchise, while also being in the top 40 for speed. It’s kind of busted.
In this case it’s using a base 120 STAB super effective move, making Dragon Ascent an effective base 360 attack with an attack stat that can easily pass 500 with the investment listed. That the bear can survive that is disgusting, especially when it has next to no investment in its Defense stat.
As for Shuckle, if it can manage to get all the required setup done without anything going wrong, then yes it can probably one shot the bear. Without all the ridiculous setup it needs though, my money’s on no.
