I refuse to accept “I can’t draw/write/sing” as an excuse.  You can, you’re just not at the place you want to be yet.

No. I can’t. I’m not allowed to draw after breaking a window last time I rage quit

Practice and patience.  And suitable distance from breakable objects.

    BUT I HAVE NO PATIENCE

Patience comes with practice, practice comes with patience.  Don’t rush yourself and take things in small, manageable steps.  The more you practice the faster things will come.

I refuse to accept “I can’t draw/write/sing” as an excuse.  You can, you’re just not at the place you want to be yet.

Experience tells I won’t get there, no matter how much effort I put in.

I felt the same way until I sat down and made myself practice.  Don’t beat yourself up because you’re not where you want to be, accept that you’re where you are and you’ll find yourself where you want to be faster than you’d think.

Yeah, but at the same time, I think that if I really wanted to be good at drawing or writing, I should have started when I was a lot younger, and it’s too late now.

Starting younger doesn’t hurt, but it’s far from necessary.  I’ve only been drawing for a few years and I’m 24.  It’s not when you start, it’s how much time and love you put into it.

That’s the other problem. I worry that I only want to get into this because I’m envious of other people’s skills. Everything I hear says I no business drawing if that’s my motivation.

Your reasons are your reasons, whether it’s to have fun, improve, or make money.  The only reason I started was to get popular in the tumblrpon community, and that never happened.  It was depressing, but after starting out I just started having fun doodling and working up characters and stories.  The point is that you have the capacity to do it, you just have to start and stick with it.
