One of the most confounding things about X and Y is the Pikachu spawning in Santalune Forest. It’s supposed to have a 6% encounter rate, but as soon as you find one a billion more spawn. I swear, my female Pika’s in heat after finding 4 male Pikachu in a row
Feeling supremely unmotivated of late, and I’ll be out of town most of next week, so just be aware that there could be a hiatus until the start of August for blogs and commissions.
Well, have the noncanon Papi update sketched out and motivation has fled. Might come back later tonight, if not I’ll finish it tomorrow.
Going to do a Pokemon post today in honor of Pokemon Go, which I cannot play, Pokemon news and my general nerdiness. Choose 2 members of changeling royalty please!
Painted TF headshot for @unovabrony‘s birthday. Happy 21st!
Random wish for Sun/Moon:
Return of the game corner in a carnival/Chuck E Cheeses form. Play various minigames, maybe some even involving the 3DS’s gyroscope or cameras, to earn tickets that can be exchanged for rarer items like stones or evolution hold items.
Please GameFreak! Give me Rattata Ron’s!

I don’t think the 3DS can support it. You need a wireless connection to the servers, and GPS.
That’s definitely the crux of it. I’m fairly certain the 3DS has some semblance of GPS natively, and if not it’s not an obscene update to add it in. The wireless connection is the biggest hurdle, but again I could see Nintendo or other companies selling mobile hotspots for that exact purpose.

but isn’t pokemon go specifically for mobile phones like the android and ios? although it’d be cool to see pokemon go on a nintendo, i don’t think it would make sense or if the 3ds is really capable of that power. plus it might ether overshadow or be overshadowed by pokemon sun and moon (a main series title) if pkmn go were to be on the 3ds
It actually wouldn’t be the first time that such a game was on a handheld console, and on mobile phones, just look at Invizimals from Sony, as they desperately want you to. Nintendo has put out some other mobile titles before and there’s often an equivalent put out on the 3DS, though perhaps missing some more mobile-centric aspects. As for the 3DS being capable of it, I don’t doubt it. There was a Pokemon game that came out around the midpoint of the 5th gen that let you catch Pokemon through AR interaction much like Pokemon Go, and that was on the DSi.
The biggest concern would be it overshadowing or being overshadowed by Sun/Moon, but Nintendo’s already said that you would be able to transfer Pokemon from Red/Blue/Yellow to Sun/Moon through Pokemon bank, and I could easily see Pokemon Go implementing a similar system if it did get some form of release on 3DS.
I can’t help but wonder why Pokemon Go is completely unavailable on 3DS. 1st party platform with rear and forward facing cameras and touch screen…the only thing I can think of is the lack of a dedicated wireless network but I could see Nintendo selling wifi or 4g cards for the 3DS and making a killing.
Niantic has just restarted their rollout of Pokemon Go to Europe and other locations. Much like the initial launch of the game in the US that means a lot of new people jumping on the servers, hence periods of spotty connection and downtime while Niantic adjusts.
Niantic is a relatively small company, and as much as people were looking forwards to Pokemon Go it’s hard to fathom that within its first week it is being considered the largest mobile game in history, and has beaten porn on Google search lists.
Be patient, the servers will be back up and running soon.
