“You can’t ship Marble Pie and Big Mac! They’re related!”
A) People can ship who they like, it’s shipping not the choosing stone.
B) Being related has never stopped other ships in many fandoms
C) They state in the show that they’re not even certain the two families are related, and the stated relationship in Pinkie Apple Pie would make the two more distantly related than the state of Alabama.
Not sure if I should start up a Patreon again or not

I was asking for me as a person, rather than as a provider of content, but thank you. Well reasoned.
ask-pandomia-and-rosalia replied to your post: Knowing that Petunia Dursley didn’t like magic…
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! Sparking a flame you might not be able to put out! But it has begun… =;D\
Good, good! Let the thoughts flow through you! Let your creativity
ignite! Which house would Dudley be in? How would he fare in his
studies? How would he get along with Harry? With his parents? So many
questions.
Knowing that Petunia Dursley didn’t like magic because she was jealous of her sister, imagine if Dudley had received a letter alongside his cousin.
this seems like a very … reducto ad absurdum sort of cartoon
i don’t want to come across as a person with no sense of humor, but this kind of thinking really frustrates me
the point of “political correctness” should not be censorship (“you’re forbidden to say anything offensive !!”), but empathy (“i don’t want to say that, it’s offensive”)
you can be uproariously funny without demeaning or belittling a person or group’s culture or identity
and if you think your ability to makes jokes or cartoons hinges on your freedom to be offensive, you’re probably just not that funny ( looking at you, sarah silverman, louis ck, joan rivers, etc. )
“Political correctness” is used when a) People have no creativity, b) People have no idea what “not being an asshole” truly means.
The cartoon says “I can only find humor in harming people - if you forbid me from harming people I am cannot DO ANYTHING.”
If you literally can’t enjoy your life without committing emotional violence you need help.
this is a very important point to make
it’s not censorship, but empathy
Ha it’s funny because people are missing the point of the cartoon XD
Whether or not a person is offensive depends on the person saying the jokes. Someone like Louis ck making a joke about the girl from schindlers list yelling goodbye Jew is funny and not offensive because he doesn’t actually hate Jews but frat guys making rape jokes is offensive because it’s something they would and often do.
The point of the cartoon is rather clearly outlined in the comments: people take offense to being offended and that very thing is poison to comedy. Comedy is derived from pain and misery, not overt, not inherently offensive, but pain and misery all the same. Puns come from the manipulation of language that some people find endearing, and others infuriating. Slapstick comes from schadenfreude. Social commentary and anecdotes come from the failings and problems that people experience, that make them human, and that they have overcome.
The point of the comic is not that you can’t be funny or creative without being hurtful, it’s that sheltering yourself in the belief that no one will ever get hurt in the slightest way leaves you blind to comedy, and life in general.
