It always frustrates me when people say that asexuality isn’t a thing, or doesn’t need to be acknowledged because it hasn’t led to struggle or hardship. Being asexual, culturally, is not as stigmatized as being homosexual but it’s still worth acknowledging.
Much of the struggle of homosexuality comes from without, from the people around you that you know and love telling you that you’re wrong for loving someone or being attracted to someone that you shouldn’t.
Asexuality has its own struggle, one that’s much more internalized. It’s not others telling you that you’re wrong for loving someone, or being attracted to someone, it’s you telling yourself that you must be broken because you don’t feel that attraction, or even that love at all.

Someone has never grown up as a boy
Oh look, someone who has never grown up as a male, assuming how males grow up. That we don’t get told the same thing. you’ll fit right into to tumblr.

“No hitting girls ”(but not boys)

“men protect girls even at the cost of their lives” (check like…any action children’s movie or…adult movie)

“snips, snails, and puppy dog tails”
“boys are stupid”
And it is even worse if you are gay growing up and your parents don’t approve (like most gay people growing up over the past 20 years in the US)

“you need guy friends”
“go to the gym”
“be sure to work hard enough to support two people. you might get married someday”
“go hit on girls”
“pay for meals for girls”
“that’s what boys are supposed to do”
Maybe shut your biased one-sided mouth and stop spreading misinformation. This kind of thing is why the struggles of men are joked about and not taken seriously. Men must lead perfect lives and thus have nothing to worry about. We don’t worry about men who are overweight because they must not have any struggles from that. We don’t need to help the majority of depression victims because they’re men. We don’t need to help the majority of violence victims because they’re men. We can just laugh a man getting his penis cut off and put into a garbage disposal. It’s only a man.
I grew up being told what it is to be a man every step through my life. I was told that men have muscles, eat a lot, and get dirty. In most of the books I read and kids movies I watched, I was told that I need to risk my life for women. “women and children first”, “never hit a woman” (even if she was the one attacking), “protect women” (instead of protect people). I was told that their lives are held more value than mine.
I was told to grow up and find a good job, not for me, but so that I would be found attractive by a girl and so that I could spend money on her to make her happy, but not expecting the same treatment. I was told to date women by picking them up, driving them to a restaurant, paying tons of money on them, buy them a gift, and drop them off. Of course none of the girls that I went to school with were told to do the same thing. ”Because that’s what being a man is.”
I was told that I wasn’t aloud to cook because “it wasn’t manly enough”, even though it’s what I liked to do. Even though I didn’t have any friends and didn’t like going outside, I was forced out because “boys like to run around and get dirty”. I was told that women don’t like flabby men and that I should get thinner (more manly) to attract a woman.
How dare you assume that I as a boy was not constantly told what it is to be a man. How dare you spread that only women get told that.
It’s a horrible thing when influential people spread misinformation like this because more often than not, people will believe you, whether you know what you’re talking about or not.

Well it never fuckin snows in fuckin Florida people would go mad shit insane if it did and then there would be mass chaos and then they’d have to cancel school cause everyone is shittin their pantsYeah, it was the best working retail in Ohio when it snowed because the mall wouldn’t close unless it was a level 3 snow emergency. One time the mall even stayed open during a level 3 and the mall manager got fired for it. (I was working that day) For the people that don’t know about snow emergency levels

the weirdest thing is that it’s not even like we as a culture NEED to work so much—there are still a lot of unemployed or underemployed people! The workforce is there, but paying four people vs one who has to get stuff done no matter how exausting it is —well, the choice for companies is easy.

im excited for these new movies, but DC needs to focus on tv shows. Marvel owns the movie industry. and DC owns the tv industry. it is gonna get hurt doing these movies. but i really hope i am wrong.
I agree with you, DC definitely has a stronger TV lineup than Marvel, and their movie prospects kind of pale in comparison. That being said, their currently running series have kind of died off for me, and I prefer Marvel’s at the moment.
Arrow’s 3rd season has left a sour taste in my mouth so far, though Flash is pretty good. S.H.I.E.L.D. is better IMO. -
The good news: DC has revealed its movie schedule through 2020, including a Wonder Woman movie, the first modern comic adaptation to have a titular female lead.
The bad news: Because it’s DC there is a strong likelihood that these movies will be visually nice, but otherwise disappointing and potentially destructive of their properties.
