Although I disagree with most headcannons as they usually stray from the show's cannon, I still have some of my own I can supply. -- Changelings tend to keep themselves hidden away and unavailable to the outside world. Their main ability is disguise which requires secrecy to pull off. This means they usually destroy evidence, burn science equipment, or obliterate witnesses who could threaten the hives only advantage.
This is largely true for Papi’s hive canon, though not because the changelings consider secrecy an advantage, but a necessity. Due to their appearance, history, and feeding habits changelings have long been regarded as monsters, demons, and abominations, and have been hunted as such more than once.
Changelings before Chrysalis’s brash invasion would hide not because it made feeding easier, but because it was pivotal to their survival as a species.
Also, I share your issue with headcanons, which is why I try and build mine with as much support from the show as possible where I can. -
head cannon: it is possible for changelings to learn unicorn magic like teleportation, however they find it sometimes harder to do so unless they already know it. even more so if they weren't unicorns before they converted. (boy I am just coming up with all kinds of head cannons.)
Unicorn magic is not overly difficult to learn for a changeling, in fact it’s no more difficult for a changeling to learn than it is for a unicorn. The only difference is that changeling drones have substantially smaller fonts, or magical reserves, with which to use magic

So according to your headcanon that changelings can change their gender as they wish and the Queen supplying the eggs, all changelings can carry eggs?
Yes, yes they can. It is their choice to do so, but all changelings have the capacity to carry eggs.

head cannon: a few of the drones have tried to fire buzz buzz out of a cannon, getting sick of his wacky antics, but fleur has stopped them.

Shoot, Buzz Buzz has fired himself out of cannons in search of things. He always comes back though.

Head cannon: before you convert and before you get back into the hive your checked for contraband. things like weapons, drugs, that kind of stuff.
I would like to say this is true, but Mean Streak still keeps getting stuff in. There aren’t many traditional drugs that affect a changeling, their metabolism is too high for them to take effect. However, Papi has explicitly forbidden Poison Joke within the hive, and strongly frowns upon the possession of weapons within the hive’s walls.

TRUE! Although very few dare to do so, because Chintin is rather imposing. There are a few who like to test his patience and make him exercise by riding on his nose and taunting him to catch them. Goliaths are physical behemoths, but they are not the most clever of changelings.

My headcanon on the MLPverse is that before the Princesses Rule, Pegasi ate Fish for the protein. This keeping their muscles strong, yet aerodynamic. Even though it's a past tradition, Pegasi can still eat Fish today for the same benefits.
I’ve seen this headcanon before, and I love it. This would be especially helpful for Pegasi along coastlines. Real horses can eat meat in small amounts in cases of emergency, so it makes sense that bird-horses would do so if it is the more abundant food source.

Well on the subject of headcannons that relate to mlp I noticed one headcannon where scootaloo has spitfire and soaring as parents but prefer not to tell anyone to not get fame in public over it Anonymous
I could see this as possible, but extremely unlikely, especially given her obsession with Rainbow Dash. Having Dash’s heroes as her parents would be an instant entrance into Dash’s good graces, and one that Scoots would probably employ, despite her trepidation to admit to her lineage.
It would make for an interesting relationship though. Two of the best fliers in Equestria having a daughter who can’t fly at all. -
*shruggry* I'm in the mood for headcanon-foolery too; Since a lot of people have actually decided that changelings have true 'genders' and such, I can't see why you couldn't have hermaphrodites amoung them as well. (kinda part of how Majestic is the brother to Crysalis and had a pony mother)
There can be hermaphroditic changelings, though it is their choice to be such. Some like having multiple parts, while others find it unnatural and so won’t have one while they have the other.
