Head cannon: buzz buzz has actually discovered a few gems in the hive ceiling. he hoards them, and the only way a drone has ever gotten one was by distracting buzz buzz with a funny looking hat.

Hat, no, but shiny objects tend to do the trick.  It wouldn’t surprise me if ruuqo keeps some polished bits on hand for when he finds larger gems.
