The establishment and place of fantasy fiction, and genre fiction in general within the English literature canon through an understanding of what constitutes literary canon, and the permeability of the borders between genre and literary fiction.

My creative piece is meant to serve as an example of a piece that embodies aspects of both genre and literary fictions such that it has the capacity to be considered a member of either aspect of literature.
