Sorry for head cannon spamming it's too much fun to stop, Changelings don't die of old age, as long as they have love they are effectively immortal some changelings believe the original changeling queen is still alive the more scholarly changelings have used the lack of information about her death is used to support theories on her location which include that she's integrated with pony society so effectively she's undetectable or that her fully self sustaining hive is in the centre of the world
This is how I run Papi, for the most part. Being similar to arthropods, changelings work somewhat like lobsters. So long as they maintain a steady supply of food they do not age past maturity and do not die of age alone. Instead they remain as they are, only getting stronger in body, and perhaps somewhat more feeble in the mind.
