I get that, and that’s why I brought up the kind of roles Will Smith is usually cast in. Will Smith has a very well known face, and a well known voice. Deadshot is typically a quiet, collected character who often covers the majority of his face.

There are very few times when I don’t mind racebending, and they usually involve me being more familiar with the adaptation than the original characters, like with Disney’s adaptation of Big Hero 6. Otherwise, racebending bugs the crap out of me.

I’m more wondering why DC is making a Suicide Squad movie. Trying to do the same thing as Guardians of the Galaxy?

Potentially, but the two aren’t really comparable. Guardians was a really under-the-radar property to most people, but this Suicide Squad movie is set to have Joker and Harley Quinn, two of the most recognizable comic characters period. As far as Will Smith as Lawton goes I’m just confused as to why they’ve cast a very well known and recognizable actor who’s usually typecast as the outspoken, snarky character to play a character who’s generally quiet, collected, and has his face covered. That they’ve cast Smith to play Lawton, who is generally portrayed as white when there are more than a few black villains in DC’s rogues gallery doesn’t help my confusion.

Will Smith has been cast as Floyd Lawton/Deadshot for DC’s Suicide Squad movie. Why?

Getting real tired of these “How to make Frozen 2 good’ posts real fast.

The film has its flaws, a fair few of them, and so does EVERY OTHER FILM IN EXISTENCE. People want to like it, and kids (for whom it was made) love it. Shut the fuck up about Frozen 2 until we’ve seen actual footage, or better yet, until it’s actually out.

I’m guessing that they wanted to avoid a controversial or racially insensitive portrayal of Tiger Lily, as some see the Disney film doing. Of course, in doing so they’ve made a controversial and racially erasing casting choice that is likely to backfire.

Bear in mind, ‘Pan’ is a Warner Bros. film and Disney isn’t touching this one, just pointing it out because everything is Disney to someone.
