I like Allies. I want them to join me in all the fun shit I do! I don’t wanna go to Pride festivals and see people telling Allies they can’t be there because it’s not what the bloody A stands for.

    Allies are important too.

No ones saying Allies can’t be part of it! I think its more the fact that Asexuals and Aromanticas are erased from the whole spectrum. When talking about the LGBT community, thats usually the extent of what people know.

A lot of people don’t even know that Asexuals even EXIST, and that’s not fair either. Especially when the whole abbreviation is for queer individuals, not straight allies.

I love allies, too! They’re great and very important! But they’re not the ones that need to be recognized.

  • If there is peace I have an idea that both ponies and changeling or rather a few of them on both sides wanted war
    umbradevore

Oh of course there are.  The speciesism in Papi’s canon runs both ways, and among many it runs very deep.  Celestia is an example of this as she has only known changelings to be destructive, and deceitful, and from her earliest experiences with them was given reason to believe that they are a blight upon the land, and must be eliminated to protect her subjects, just like Discord.

The actions taken to do so led many changelings, especially in later generations to believe that Celestia is no more than a hateful tyrant, and that ponies are monsters who only want changelings to suffer, or to die.

Any peace talk that could possibly take place would not see all of these feelings expunged, even if things are changed on the surface.

the best headline i’ve ever read.

yes. apparently a kid was screaming in line behind him about wanting pie, so he bought every single one. 23 pies. then slowly ate them as he stared at the kid and kid’s mom.

    This is amazing

OKAY so my mom found this article (or one about the same event) on Facebook. Basically what happened was, this guy went into BK with a headache, and while he was in line this kid and his mother enter the restaurant. The kid begins throwing a fit, screaming (I quote) “I want a fucking pie!” This is a child, mind you. His mother, on the phone, ignores the kid. The man’s headache got worse because of this screaming kid and he asked the woman if she could control her child. She told him to stop telling him how to raise her kid and went back to talking on the phone. So the guy orders his burger and all the pies they had- 23. He proceeded to the exit, only to hear the woman yell, “What do you mean, you don’t have any pies?” The cashier helplessly points out the man who bought all the pies. Our hero, to rub salt in the wound, slowly starts eating a pie before leaving.

GOD BLESS YOU, SIR. GOD. BLESS.

I actually read this, and while I’m not sure if it actually happened.. I still laughed.

  • I honestly like where the story is going right now. It portrays a much darker piece of the MLP fandom. Yet it does so without a need for gore and unneeded violence. And the fact there there are 2 arks happening at once right now adds depth to the hardships the characters face. I just hope im not the only person who noticed.

Thank you.  That people don’t like the portrayal isn’t what bothers me, nor does it bother me if they don’t like the story.  It’s just when someone takes the effort to say that they liked the story, sometimes a lot, but can’t follow any more because one character is portrayed in a manner different from their expectations or desires.

  • Just please promise us that there will be a happy ending for both the changelings and ponies in the end.

Things will be good for ponies and changelings, though not everyone may necessarily be happy about what happens, for one reason or another.

  • I’m surprised at how many messages I’ve received (only a few, but still) saying that someone refuses to follow Papi anymore because of how Celestia is being portrayed.

    Really?

The entire blog has been about defying expectations and viewing things differently from the general norm.  It has been about establishing changelings as neutral creatures that are not inherently good, nor evil.  Even Papillon has questionable moments.  In the same vein it is established that ponies, or any race, is not wholly good.  It’s about establishing that there are no ‘pure figures’ in a society, or paradigms of virtue.  Everyone has flaws, everyone has prejudices, and everyone can make mistakes.

If people want to view Celestia as completely benevolent and purely good, that’s perfectly alright, more power to them.  (Of course, the show doesn’t even portray Celestia as flawless, or wholly benevolent, but that’s what I’m getting at with Papi.)  Unfollowing a blog, and pointing that out as the sole reason?  Their choice.

  • I love how some people think that I hate Celestia because of the events of Papi’s recent updates.  While Celestia is my least favorite of the princesses I don’t hate her, I just see her differently than is widely accepted.

I don’t see her as a purely benevolent and wise ruler, I see her as one who knows how to maintain peace and order through means not meant to be seen or acknowledged by the public.

I don’t see her as instantly forgiving and all-knowing, I see her as one who is strongly set in her ways, and in her beliefs, and for good reason.

I do not see Celestia as ageless, I see her as old.  I see her as one that knew changelings when they first came to be, and came to understand them as they were then, which is much different from how they are in the present of Papi’s canon.  Because she is old, and because she can have trouble accepting change, or differing information from her own (in canon this can be seen) she can be one to ignore what she does not believe and act upon old thoughts, feelings, and hatreds.

Some have said that my iteration of Celestia is too out of character, and I can see their points.  I feel I should remind them, however, that they have seen but a part of the character, and the decisions I’ve made are backed by the history set up in the blog, and by observations of the canon personality.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy review

    fleurmod:

Marvel Studio’s second film of the year is out now, and after Captain America: Winter Soldier it has a lot to live up to.  Guardians of the Galaxy is without a doubt the riskiest move that the MCU has pulled so far, and it is receiving a lot of praise, but was the risk worth it, and does it fulfill the hype?

As always, spoilers after the break.
