  • What would happen if Celestia found out about her Hive before the ime was right and Celestia banished them from the kingdom?
    ask-paradigm

Celestia is not fond of changelings, to put it mildly.  The first changelings came about before her time, and the race as a whole has been hunted ever since because they are seen as horrid abominations.  Her prejudices against changelings were not helped at all by Chrysalis’s invasion.

A changeling hive is effectively a sovereign body, not under Celestia’s jurisdiction, and therefore she cannot banish it from her kingdom.  Celestia would not banish Papi’s hive, she would destroy it.

  • How did Papi discover the other hives?
    ask-paradigm

Papillon has not ventured to any other hive, though she is aware of them in large part due to the inclusion of changelings from other hives.

  • Changeling Headcannon: On the incredibly rare occasions changelings have been safe enough to come out of hiding as an entire hive they have been known to "sing" together producing a sound of ethereal beauty
    Anonymous

Changelings do have their own unique music, not unlike singing, but more similar to an active forest at night.  The chorus of thousands of changeling trills in unison is a thing of true magnificence.

  • What will Papi do once she reaches such numbers? I mean, that's a lot of changelings I reckon and it will be hard to manage them all. How does Papi deal with managing anyway?
    ask-paradigm

Papillon is often kept very busy dealing with squabbles and fights among her subjects, as are some of her drones, such as itsmesweetholly, flying-ace-mod, and a few others.  Papi may be a Queen, but even she needs help now and then.

  • Can the Hive grow indefinitely, or will soon become overpopulated?
    ask-paradigm

So long as there is room to expand, the hive can continue to grow.  If it nears a point of overpopulation then Papillon will cease her reproductive cycles.

  • Is there an equivalent of a Prince in the Hive?
    ask-paradigm

There is not.  Being a matriarchal society with no real tradition of marriage, there is no necessity for a Prince character.  The closest thing to a Prince or King character within a changeling hive would be a chief consort, such as Fancy Pants within Papillon’s hive.  They hold no real power, but are favored by the Queen for reasons.

  • ~Continued~ They are not born, but the Queen may appoint changelings to the position based on recognition in the Hive and cast the spell/do the thing neccessary to have the changeling evolve into his new form. The reason why not every changeling can be a Vanguard is because of their increased magical prowess their link to the Hive Mind is highly weakened and they have a larger sense of individuality, so if you appointed someone who hates your guts you'd quickly have a rebellion.
    ask-paradigm

Papillon employs a similar practice with her Praetorians, though they are no different from other drones physically.

  • I have a headcanon that there is a special breed of changelings called guardians. They are the vanguard of the hive and serve to protect the Queen (kind of of a royal guard) and her Hive and act as advisors. They are stallion-sized (like Fancy Pants before being converted) have an extra pair of wings right under the first pair to accomodate for the extra weight and their magic is a bit stronger and longer lasting of that of a warrior/drone. To be continued~

  • Does the chitinous skin feel the same way a pony does or is it numbed down? How come they don't feel the cleansing green fire?
    ask-paradigm

A changeling’s fire developed as a defense mechanism to blind and escape predators and attackers, before they developed the capacity for natural shapeshifting, but after their hide became as chitinous and hard as it is.

A changeling’s sense of touch is somewhat diluted because of their hide, but not by much.  In their base form, a changeling’s chitin is hard and warm to the touch, both less yielding and less furry than a pony’s hide.
