  • behind the mask of man lies the unintelligible void of truth and emotion, beneath the skin lies a thin steel coat which acts as a mask of its own it hides our truths and realities, the third mask of which I will speak is not one buy millions the mask of truth filled with lies in our minds and eyes it hides rooted to our rotten minds this mask's job is to conceal the nature of a human from itself this mask is the traitor which saves, this mask is the murderer who cries the mask of truth lies

  • As people, the easiest thing we will ever do is wear a mask. The hardest thing we ever can do is take it off both in public, and in private, for it is there that lies our greatest fears.

  • Headcanon: Changelings need to feed off other positive emotions from the hive in order to keep a strong bond
    blakcheetas-art-deactivated2014

The cyclical feeding between Papillon and the members of the hive maintains stability for the most part.  Drones are allowed to feed off of love, and derivatives thereof in small amounts if they are coupling, but primarily rely upon their queen for sustenance.

  • What was the initial reason?
    relentlesslyhers

The initial reason for Papillon’s name was that I wanted a French word for some kind of insect, and I liked Papillon.  The Chrysalis connection came immediately afterwards.

  • Is papillon/butterfly a wordplay type thing with chrysalis? Like maybe chrysalis never matured as a queen, and papillon did? Or am I just being silly xp ?
    relentlesslyhers

That wasn’t the initial reason, but it was a wonderful coincidence.

  • Headcanon: Changelings can also feed off other strong emotions like rage/hatred and fear. Consuming either in overly large amounts or making it their only source of food has an almost irreversible effect on a changeling's mind. It becomes incredibly addictive and causes them to become bullies and cruel tricksters early on, eventually leading them to an empty minded madness where they will deliberately inflict pain (or death) upon others to sate their hunger. By this point they cannot be saved.

Not sure about this one.  I like the idea, but I’m uncertain about the execution.

  • Headcanon: Those who join Papillon's hive but originate from other hives - or did not have a hive-, particularly ones known for acts of great violence, etc. are often distrusted by other members in the hive, regardless of what their queen has told them. If Papillon has any doubts however - at all, the distrust in fellow changelings increases severely. Converted changelings are also more likely to distrust an 'outsider' than a natural born changeling.

This is largely true, and has more to do with the remnant of a connection with a different hive mind than anything else.

  • Headcannon: There will be a single self-aware changeling that tries to convince the entire Hive mind that they are fictional characters on an Internet blog. Also, hump day!

Would anyone be willing to donate a Pinkie to the hive?
