    steamscience:

I’m seeing a lot of people responding to fans of SU not wanting a situation similar to Bronies with MLP to happen by saying they shouldn’t/can’t stop someone from enjoying a show. Or that SU fans are overreacting. So let me make this clear:

You can watch and like a show even if you’re not in the intended demographic. You can be a man and watch something made for girls and/or children. No one’s saying you can’t.

What you shouldn’t do, is try to shove the intended demographic out of the fandom and expect the show to cater to you. You also shouldn’t creep on other members of the fandom, especially if those members are young kids.

That is what happened with Bronies.

That is what we are trying to avoid with SU.

I’m going to bet you’ve never been to a brony convention

Where thousands of people show up

    Including kids with their parents

Where they are very careful to not expose any of those kids to adult content at said conventions, similar to comic conventions and anime conventions

And I’ve seen kids having the times of their lives at these conventions

I’ve sold a lot of things to kids because “Bronies” are actually more commonly a creative group that produce a ton of content

What other fandom has that much fan music?

That much fan art? That many fan animations?

MLP generally just has a lot of EVERYTHING that can be artistically produced, but you’re purposefully blinding yourself to that fact because you’re too focused on the internet

and the internet is 90% porn in general

And you know what? Stop insulting kids. Stop acting like they’re these dumb, precious little flowers that can’t think for themselves. Stop putting the responsibility of these children in the hands of the internet. Parents should monitor what their kids do on the internet. It’s not a fandom’s job to monitor your children.

But again, I know a ton of kids who attend brony conventions and love MLP. In fact, there are a lot of kids who enjoy the content I produce on youtube. I do radio plays for all ages and I’ve had kids come up to me at conventions to ask me questions and ask me to do my character voice and sign their backpacks.

At conventions, generally, most MLP fans/bronies embrace the fact that children enjoy the show too. They encourage them and they don’t shove their adult ideals on them. They treat these kids like fellow fans, not like little children that they have to keep their pedo hands away from.

Because none of these guys are pedophiles and how DARE you. Just how dare you generalize based on assumtions when you’ve never actually experienced what the light side of the fandom is.

Saying ‘all bronies are pedo scum’ is like if I said “all steven universe fans are feminazis”

I don’t call myself a brony but I’m angry that ignorant assholes like you are so high on your pedestal that you think it’s okay to accuse hundreds and thousands of people of being pedophiles just because there’s a nasty chunk of people in the fandom.

And guess what? I’m also a porn artist. But kids don’t know that, because like most porn artists, we respect minors and put said porn in places that kids can’t easily find it without actually looking and turning off filters.

And even though I have produced porn content in the past, it does not reflect on my attitude towards children. I will defend children to the death if I have to.

If I had a kid, I wouldn’t lampshade the existence of sex and porn, but let them be aware that if they find something like that on the internet to come talk to me and leave that area immidiately so that I can explain to them safe and appropriate sexual education so they don’t be irresponsibly curious.

Because if I sit there acting like this stuff doesn’t exist, then they’ll find it and have no answers, and they’ll get curious and do things they shouldn’t be doing.

Children are the responsibility of their caretakers.

The internet is not a caretaker.

The internet is a dangerous place that a caretaker needs to hold their hand through and stay by their side so they don’t see the things they shouldn’t.

And when you honestly search for MLP content with parental blocks and filters, the only way to find porn is if you purposefully look for it and you have to look pretty damn hard.

In short: Sit down, shut up, and think about the things you’re accusing to literally hundreds of thousands of people
