  • I feel the need to repeat something I’ve said before: I didn’t grow up on comics, my introduction to both Marvel and DC was through cartoons and movies.  I didn’t touch anything Marvel outside of Spiderman and X-Men until the MCU started.  I grew up with DC shows like Batman the Animated Series, Justice League, Static Shock and Teen Titans.  I adore DC, and I have come to adore Marvel.

Regardless of whether I like a property or not, if it is making poor decisions and faltering because of them I’m going to point them out.  If I like the property I’m going to be harsher, if anything, because I want it to be good and do well, and seeing it settle for mediocrity is a shame.  That’s why I’m so critical about DC movies. I want to see a good Superman vs Batman.  I want to see a good Suicide Squad.  I don’t want to settle for crap because it’s all we’re likely to get given the recent and current track record.

Marvel’s been killing it in the cinema, DC’s been faltering hard.  Marvel’s been slacking in the animation from what I’ve seen, whereas DC’s been killing it in animated movies and struggling in animated serials.  Both offer good live action television on network and streaming, though personally I prefer Marvel’s approach in keeping everything tied together.
