Headcanon: Although she tries to hide it, Papi remembers very little from before she was a changeling, more and more leaving every day.

The change does not affect memory in the drones, nor did it change Papi’s memory.  She still remembers who and what she was before becoming a queen, and may use such knowledge should the need arise.
