Chaotic magic, while random, can be categorised into two groups: magic which leads to a positive result, and magic which leads to a negative result. Papillon being turned into a leader of a hive is a huge positive, regardless of the fact that her entire life has been changed. She is considerably more powerful, a proper leader, and has an extended lifetime. However, to compensate for the positive, negative chaotic magic has to occur. Something big and devastating is almost guaranteed to happen.
And everything changed when the Draconequui attacked. Many unusual magical creatures and natural constructs can trace their roots back to burst of chaos magic. The thing about chaos, though, is that it’s fair. It does not judge and it does not act on a sense of ethics or balance, it merely is.
If something bad happens because of a chaotic magic burst, it is the doing of the one who was caught in it, and not necessarily of the magic itself.
