Maybe its because I’m simply biased against the whole Tyrantlestia thing, but I simply cannot in good faith approve of either how Papillon is portraying Celestia nor how he is handling criticism of it. Even disregarding the can of worms that is Celestia’s portrayal, calling people “butthurt” because they’re voicing concern/disapproval of how one of the most noble and kindhearted characters in the show is being portrayed as…something completely opposite that just seems juvenile.

I have called people ‘butthurt’ on this topic, because that is exactly how I see their complaints regarding Celestia’s portrayal. The way in which I have portrayed Celestia is staunchly different from the norm, but not unheard of in the fandom. The way in which I have portrayed changelings is much the same way, very different from the norm, but not entirely unheard of. That the former has caused 'controversy’, while the latter was ignored, and even celebrated comes off to me as 'butthurt’.
That this current 'controversy’ is even a thing that needs to be brought up comes off to me as 'butthurt’. It is a different portrayal of a popular character, and one that I understand and anticipated not matching the sensibilities of everyone. I knew going in that some people weren’t going to like that, and if they would unfollow so be it. That I had people come to me directly and say that they didn’t like how I was portraying Celestia, and that for that reason and no other they couldn’t stand the blog anymore was, to me, 'butthurt’.
What I saw was people complaining that something turned out differently than how they would have liked, complaining vocally and directly to me without considering that there will be more to the blog, and further reasoning for the characterizations of created, and canon characters. People saw something they didn’t like, voiced their dislike and left. I call that butthurt, and I stand by that.
People are welcome to dislike something, even hate it. That’s their opinion and they’re welcome to have it. When you see something you dislike from a blog, story, series, whatever, and refuse to follow that anymore, that’s fine too. Going to the creator and pointing that out directly, however, is going to come with a response whether it’s one you like or not.
I’m sorry that how I’ve handled this 'controversy’ has been so disappointing to some people. Frankly, I’m disappointed that this 'controversy’ is even a thing worth bringing up or spreading around as from where I stand it’s not a controversy.
