You should do to the story what you want to do, not what we want you to do.

That’s generally the plan, but I still like to get feedback from the followers now and then.  I’ll be taking the concepts, but altering the designs by hive so they won’t be as offputting as the canon designs from Chrysalis’s hive.

I think people might be looking at the new changeling designs too literally.  Think for a moment of the possibilities!  Before all changelings were kind of just generic buggy ponies, but now we have a hive with blatant beetle characteristics between Thorax’s horns and the shell covering the wings.  All that the finale has done is shown that changelings can be colorful, compassionate and more heavily influenced by insect characteristics.

Who’s to say that all changelings have to be beetle-y?  Why can’t there be a hive with spider leanings that further develops them?  Or bee?  Or dragonfly? There are tons of possibilities now that don’t detract from the old ones.  Even then, the new designs are different, but they grow on you over time.  At least they did with me.

I’m actually really glad that the new episode tackled racism and prejudice like it did, showing that even those considered paragons, and those who have been burdened with strife, are not above looking down on another because of their race.  That it was told in the Crystal Empire makes it even more poignant.

Chrysalis kidnaps Cadence and seeks to invade Canterlot=All changelings are evil and not to be trusted.

Sombra enslaves all of the Crystal Empire, banishes it from existence for a thousand years, and brainwashes and corrupts hundreds of Crystal Ponies leaving them with PTSD=Not all unicorns.

My problem with the episode other than diamond tiara getting redemption way too easily is that the cmc didn’t earn their cutie marks and have shown no proficiency in helping prior to the episode. In the five seasons that have been on, the only time they haven’t helped anyone without being the reason they need help in the first place was that one unlucky guy.
What they have done is almost kill babs, nearly ruin a big opportunity for rarity, destroy a talent show, cause a plague, lie to children and nearly embarrass their entire town during the Olympics.

But they did earn their marks.  They have been practicing their talent since their introduction.  It isn’t about just helping others, but about helping others understand themselves, and that’s what the CMC have always been about.  Their efforts had always been misguided and turned inwards, but what they did to earn their marks is what they have been trying to do since the beginning.

After the bombshells from today’s episode there seems to be some discrepancy and dislike for some of the changes that, personally, I feel fitting.  The bulk of the argument tends to center around the reveal at the end of the episode, rather than where it perhaps should.
